WhatsApp Link Generator

Turn a phone number into a wa.me link that opens a WhatsApp chat — with an optional message already typed for them.

Everything runs in your browser. The numbers you paste are never uploaded, logged or stored — there is no server involved in this tool at all. Free, with no sign-up.

With or without the country code — spaces, dashes and brackets are fine.

Used only for numbers that arrive without a country code.

This text appears already typed in their chat box — they still have to press send. 0/1000

Your link

Enter a phone number above and your wa.me link appears here.

What this tool does

A WhatsApp click-to-chat link lets someone start a conversation with you in one tap, without saving your number first. Paste a phone number above and you get a ready-to-share wa.me link, optionally with a message already typed in for them.

Put it on a website button, an Instagram bio, an email signature, a QR code on a flyer, or a paid ad. It works anywhere a normal link works.

How to make a WhatsApp link

  1. Enter your phone number, with or without the country code.
  2. Pick the country if the number has no code of its own.
  3. Optionally add a message to pre-fill their chat box.
  4. Copy the link, or test it first to see what they will see.

The number format matters

wa.me links need the full international number with no plus sign, spaces, dashes or brackets. An Indian number written +91 98765 43210 has to become 919876543210 in the URL. This is the single most common reason a hand-written link fails, and it is exactly what this tool handles for you.

Getting those chats into your contacts

A click-to-chat link brings people to you, and every one of them arrives as an unsaved number in your chat list. Saving each by hand is the slow part, which is what the LeadSync Chrome extension exists to solve — it reads the numbers already visible on WhatsApp Web and creates them in Google Contacts, skipping any you already have.

If you have a list rather than a single number, the bulk link generator builds a link for every number at once.

Frequently asked questions

What is a wa.me link?

A wa.me link is WhatsApp's official click-to-chat URL. Opening one starts a WhatsApp conversation with the number in the link, even if neither person has saved the other. The format is https://wa.me/<number>, with the number in full international form and no plus sign or spaces.

Do I need to save the number first?

No, and that is the point of a click-to-chat link. Anyone who opens it can message that number without adding it to their contacts first.

Does the recipient see the pre-filled message automatically?

The text appears already typed in their message box, but it is not sent until they press send. They can edit or delete it first.

Why does my link not work?

The most common cause is a missing or wrong country code. wa.me needs the full international number — for example 919876543210 for India, not 9876543210. This tool adds the country code for you based on the country you select.

Is there a limit on the message length?

WhatsApp does not publish a hard limit for click-to-chat text, but very long messages can be truncated by some browsers because the whole thing travels in the URL. This tool caps the message at 1,000 characters, which is comfortably within what works reliably.

Is this tool free, and is my number stored?

It is free with no sign-up, and nothing is stored. The link is built in your browser with JavaScript — the number you type is never sent to any server.

Can I use a wa.me link for WhatsApp Business?

Yes. Click-to-chat links work with both personal and WhatsApp Business accounts, since the link just opens a chat with that number.
